Thursday Evening Support Group Info: When: Thursday eves 6:30-8:30 What: Live foods support group Where: Adair's house in Sacramento Status: Ongoing Important: This location is good only through Halloween. New location beginning Nov. 7. Welcome! This is a support group for people who are living the raw foods lifestyle or want to be. We are people who are already convinced raw is for us and the purpose of this group is to support each other in being raw or going raw. We recognize that everyone has their own path to raw and we do not have opinions as a group about specific foods or approaches to raw. We do not give nutritional or medical advice. We focus on our own personal experience and how our experience, strength and hope can help each other on our raw path, and we encourage “I” statements that are grounded in personal experience. Our group borrows from the 12 step program, and uses books such as the “12 Steps to Raw Food,” (by Victoria Boutenko) as study guides. We believe that, for us, eating cooked food is an addiction, and that the solution is a spiritual one that involves abstaining from cooked food and finding other ways to fill ourselves physically, emotionally and spiritually. We also recognize that we cannot do raw alone, and need support from each other and a spiritual power of our own choosing. Structure and Logistics · There are no dues or fees, and we ask people to make a small donation on occasion to cover costs of utensils. · Bring a raw, vegan dish to share if you can, but come anyway if you cannot. Bring your recipe too! · Everyone is encouraged to help clean up at the end of the evening. · The first hour is an informal potluck and the second hour is dedicated to a group book study and discussion. If you are new to the group, we ask that you observe, listen and participate in the spirit of the meeting. If you have questions about the benefits of raw or are wondering if raw is right for you, please attend one of the many raw food events and/or avail yourself of the many raw resources online, in books, etc. Members of this group may be available outside of this meeting as well. Again, welcome, and may your day be raw, healthy and happy. If you have any questions, you can email or call Adair at 916-736-1124.
